Love Song:bittersweet crumbs of having them at home  / Also a Song: caak3 again

Tai Kwun JC Contemporary, Sound Forms 2024, 8th - 9th Nov 2024

In 2024 I was invited to join Tai Kwun’s HICCUP Festival co-presented by Tai Kwun Contemporary, Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong (Sound Forms), and Per.Platform. I invited artists Annisa Cheung and Vunkwan Tam as my collaborator to further develop the idea of the closing performance of The Portraits Lying Aside. For the two days' performance, we created a space filled with assemblages of objects we’ve collected. With 3 more performers, on the first day, we used these assembled objects as instruments. On the second day, we performed by disassembling the “instruments” and dismantling the installations again. The performance aims to amplify the inherent potentials of objects and temporality of space and performance.

Work description
In Love Song: bittersweet of having them here / Also a Song: caak3 again, Winsome Wong, Vunkwan Tam, and Annisa Cheung will create a space filled with assemblages of objects and sounds they’ve collected—ranging from discarded household items and online-purchased objects to scrap metals and low-quality recordings played through inexpensive speakers. They have invited their friends Frank Q, Red, and Bright to join the performance. On the first day, the six of them will perform a song, using these assembled objects as instruments. On the second day, they will also perform another song, through disassembling the “instruments” previously used for the first song and attempting to carefully pack them away.
